Chef Will Rankin, from the Village Pantry in Hipperholme has used his culinary expertise to create a Christmas treat with a difference.

‘Hipperpop’ is jellified Champagne in a Champagne glass and includes two festive mini cakes on lollipop sticks – Chocolate Truffle and Christmas Pudding.

Will, 34, said: “We wanted to create something different and unique to The Village Pantry for our customers this Christmas and I’m sure they’ll love the Hipperpop. It’s bound to become a real talking point around the Christmas dinner table.”

Will, who has worked as a chef at top West Yorkshire eateries including Oulton Hall and the Calls Grill in Leeds, the Feversham Arms in North Yorkshire, The Black Horse at Clifton and La Cachette in Elland, runs The Village Pantry with his wife Felicity, 26 which they opened a year ago.

Felicity said: “Providing top quality food for our customers at breakfast and lunchtimes is really important to us. When we opened the Village Pantry we also wanted to provide something different, so alongside sandwiches and the pie and peas you’ll find homemade soups and a range of breakfast items including Eggs Benedict, which have become a firm favourite of the builders and workmen who pop in every morning!”

The Hipperpop is available from the Village Pantry for £2.50 per glass and will last two to three weeks.
