The chairman of a Brighouse business has received his OBE from Prince Charles during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Allan Jagger, chairman of Kirkdale Industrial Training Services Ltd (KITS), was awarded the accolade in the New Year Honours List for services to training and education of young people and to charity in West Yorkshire.

Mr Jagger, of Elland, has a long and distinguished history in the training and education of school leavers aged 16-18, helping them to become qualified engineers.

As well as training and educating young people, Mr Jagger has been involved in a raft of local, community-based charitable causes and projects.

Mr Jagger, 70, said: “I am humbled at the news that Her Majesty the Queen has appointed me an OBE.

“I have always felt passionate about the training and education of young people, having encountered difficulties in achieving my personal goals after leaving school with the systems available to me at the time.

“The honour bestowed on me reflects all the hard work and efforts of my trustee colleagues, management, staff and other stakeholders involved in training apprentices at KITS.”
