A £21,000 plan to bring the kitchen at a local church community hall into the 21st century has been given a welcome boost, thanks to the generosity of local Freemasons.

Members of St John’s Church, Rastrick, are working hard to come up with a variety of schemes to raise the necessary £21,000 needed. The fund was given a boost by the Freemasons at Clifton Lodge 7112 through the West Riding Masonic Charities, of £1,000.

Peter Whaites, Clifton Lodge’s Worshipful Master, said he was only too pleased to be able to help St John’s.

Rev Matthew Pollard accepted the cheque and said it reflected the growing confidence the Freemasons had in St John’s and the community hall as a resource for the whole community.
