Charity cyclists have completed their 183 mile round trip to the Isle of Man in memory of friend Christopher Tarran.
The TT for Taz team set off on their journey in the early hours of Saturday morning and in the process raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The two charities were close to the heart of the Elland man who worked for Leach Colour in Bradley and died of cancer last November at the age of 53.
Among the 21 riders was Simon Jones, from Brighouse who said: “Who would have thought that after a brief conversation at Taz’s funeral we would have arrived at this?
“A massive thanks to anyone who has taken part or helped in some way to make TT4Taz such a huge success.
“Once all the money is collected we think it will be very close to £10,000 raised, so thanks to all the generous people who have donated and supported us. It has been an incredible effort.”
Battling through torrential rain, punctures and the odd detour, the group arrived at the ferry with 50 minutes to spare before sailing to the Isle of Man and completing the TT circuit in three hours 30 minutes.
Dozens of individuals and local companies donated products, money or their time to help with the challenge which was also backed by 12 corporate sponsors.
Tim Ingram, from Hollywell Green said: “This weekend has restored my faith in human nature.
“All these lads volunteered for a unique charity cycle ride in memory of Chris Tarran and should be very proud of what they’ve achieved.
“We could not have done this without our support driver, Alistair Bray (Europe Now, Elland) who tirelessly ran around after everyone all weekend.
“Now the ride is over, everyone’s looking forward to regrouping on Friday September 27 at our celebration party where we can relax and enjoy a well deserved pint or two.
“The ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ fundraising party will be held at Elland Cricket Club and tickets are on sale at £10 and available from Studio 9 Photography, Elland.
“Guests will enjoy two live rock bands, dj till late, a pie supper, auction and a raffle. This will be our final TT4TAZ fundraising event and will cap what has been a fantastic journey!”
