Organisers of a popular table top sale are delighted with the response from bargain-hunters who helped boost the takings to more than £530.
The sale, the 12th to be held in the community hall at St John’s Church, Rastrick, was held to help raise funds to refurbish the hall’s kitchens and bring them up to the 21st century.
They need to raise about £22,000 in order to complete the work.
The sale and coffee morning ran from 9am until 12.30pm and the 20 stalls offered the visitors a wide variety of goods to browse round from household goods, utensils, ornaments, children’s fancy dress outfits, jewellery, cards, toys and clothes. In addition there were tasty bacon butties, tea, coffee and home made buns and cakes on offer. One of the organisers, Freda Broadbent, said the response had been excellent. She said the event had been busy right from the start, adding that people had turned up early looking for a bargain.
“The success of the sale made all the hard work leading up to the event very worthwhile. It was a very pleasant event.”
