TWO Brighouse designers are celebrating after scooping an award for their eco-friendly garden buildings.

Ben and Michelle Lord, directors of Pod Space, were presented with Best Innovative Design award at the Northern Designs Awards ceremony.

The former Brighouse High school pupils were presented with the accolade for the design of the Eco Pod.

Judges said the structure delivers an innovative design while maintaining the high standards of quality and specification as well as eco-credentials that the company has developed a reputation for.

They also said the pod maintains the style and quality of Pod Space while bringing unique features such as the steel clad roof panels and colour matched folding sliding doors.

Ben Lord originally from Clifton, who was the founder and designer of Pod Space after seeing a gap in the market for a larger contemporary structure, said: “We are delighted to have this design acknowledged for its innovation and we are pleased that we can offer a unique building to the market for customers seeking a garden room that is not only a high quality build, but also a beautiful and individual design.

“The company’s focus is very much on providing ecologically sound additional living space for everyone to enjoy.”

Pod Space, based in Huddersfield, construct their buildings with super high levels of insulation, energy rated slid timber framed doors and windows and timber cladding.

Since the formation of the company, its reputation has grown so that it is now one of the leading pod providers in the UK, having been featured in The Times Online, Real Homes and Grand Designs.
