Auction helps to raise hundreds for hospice and St James’ Court

n FUND-RAISER: MORE than £1,000 has been raised at an auction.

Various prizes were up for grabs in the auction with compere Councillor Colin Stout (Ind, Brighouse) at St James’ Court, Brighouse, raising a grand total of £1,280.

The money will be split between St James’ Court and Overgate Hospice.

One of the prizes up for grabs was borrowing an electric leaf car from Lightcliffe Nissan for the weekend. The lucky winner was Gareth Swallow who runs his own business in Brighouse.

More than 100 attended the auction including residents.

Iris Wood, one of the organisers said she would like to thank the committee, Barbara Seare, Dawn Whittaker, Elizabeth Steal, Lynn Riley, Susan Holmes, Charlotte Haigh, Dorothy Rushworth and Willas Mitchell for all their help.

She said a special thanks went to Barbara and Smith Boecock and June Pain. “We were delighted with how much we raised for both the hospice and St James’. It all ran smoothly. We had a fantastic day and we had a lot of help from local businesses who donated raffle prizes. Also a special thanks must go to Coun Stout who did an excellent job keeping it all running. He also gave a generous donation.”
