A GLITTERING awards ceremony was the highlight for Brighouse High students.

Worst driver, look alike, Romeo and Juliet and Alan Carr comedian were just a few of the awards presented to sixth form students at their prom held at The Venue, Barkisland.

But the teachers didn’t miss out because the students had also come up with a few for them including most inspirational teacher.

Around 120 students were greeted with champagne before enjoying a three-course meal and dancing the night away with music provided by a DJ.

Post 16 learning mentor, Annis Tasker, said: “It was brilliant. We even had about 45 members of staff at the prom too.

“It was a fabulous evening and the students absolutely loved it. There was a really nice feel.

“They were all brilliant and enjoyed a few drinks.

“The atmosphere was lovely and it was just a great end to sixth form at Brighouse.”

All the staff were presented with flowers at the event organised by the social committee and teacher Sue Thompson.

The next time the students, who attended the sixth form in Parsonage Lane, will meet is for their results.

They will then go their separate ways to universities or work.
