A royal toast in Pimms and pop

PARTIES were in full swing in the Brighouse area as revellers took their royal wedding celebrations to the streets. Hundreds of people in the town tuned in to view Prince William and Kate Middleton’s ceremony before letting their hair down at street parties and barbecues.

A congregation of 1,900 and up to two billion people saw the couple exchange vows, as they were beamed live around the world.

Streets across Brighouse came alive with the party atmosphere as communities gathered to celebrate.

The party in Crown Street, Brighouse, was soon in full swing as more than 70 residents came together for a good old royal knees up while there was plenty of entertainment for the family at Rastrick Bowling and Social Club and Brighouse Sports Club.

Schools across the borough got in on the action with celebrations before the Easter holidays and Sandholme Fold residential care home had a VIP visitor.

Visitors from Brighouse’s twin town, Ludenscheid, celebrated along with their hosts before returning to Germany.
