The spirits at St Chad’s CE Primary School could not be dampened as the community came together in the rain for their annual Home School Association’s Friday Night fundraiser.

Despite the bleak conditions, over 500 people turned out to enjoy the night.

Chairwoman of the association Jill Gonzalez said it was a terrific night and they had beaten last year’s total after raising around £1,300 on the night.

“I can’t thank people enough for coming to the night and for all the volunteers and staff who helped set everything up,” she said. “It’s fantastic that we have raised so much despite the weather.

“If the weather had been more kind then who knows what we might of raised.”

The donkey rides were cancelled but there was still plenty of activities such as the welly wang, hook a duck, bouncy castle and a Year five display of Morris dancing.
