Rastrick is gearing up for one of the biggest events to be held in the village in recent years with its own version of ‘It’s a Knockout’ on Saturday, August 17.
Planning is still at an early stage but press officer Adrian Hartshorn is promising a spectacular day of fun and competition.
The free event is being organised at Rastrick Cricket Club as part of the Rastrick Big Local celebrations.
Based on the format of the BBC’s hugely-popular ‘It’s a Knockout’ programme, the event will see teams from all over the area competing throughout the day to be the champion.
Rastrick Big Local are asking all clubs, businesses, organisations or members of the public within the Rastrick area to enter a team or themselves into this great event. They are also asking for those same organisations to have a free stall at the event where they can promote their organisation or raise money.
The evening’s celebrations will start with a spectacular firework display from the Round Hill ground followed by an open air Robbie Williams tribute act and local band Signed Anonymous lasting late into the evening.
Local acoustic singer and songwriter Roger Davis will also be performing. The bar and social lounge at Rastrick CC will be open all day and there will be catering outlets to more than cover the expected huge crowd. l There are plenty of new offers starting at Crow Nest Park Golf Club, Brighouse, from Thursday April 11. Certain to be popular are ‘Steak and Rib Thursdays’, every week, from 5pm to 8.30pm. The club serves only English beef and the steaks are hung for a minimum of 28 days.
l Two course lunches are available at the Turkish and Greek restaurant Meze every day from noon to 2pm for £8.95 per person.
l Tonight’s (Thursday) entertainment at the Barge, Brighouse, will come from Stuart’s jam session. On Friday it’s Helter Skelter.
