A helping hand for Highbury

A RASTRICK school has had an overwhelming response from Brighouse businesses in its appeal to raise £250,000 towards its hydrotherapy pool.

Various fund-raising events have been taking place across the borough to help Highbury School, which was formerly Hillside, towards their target to make repairs and upgrade the 30-year-old pool.

Chair of Friends of Highbury, Donna Waterhouse, said they had had a lot of fund-raising events planned. “Four members of staff have done a sponsored slim and raised just short of £300 and some of the staff are doing a parachute jump in September,” she said. “We have raised so far around £114,000 towards our target.”

On June 25 there will be a summer ball at The Venue, Bowers Mill, Barkisland from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £40 and include a three-course meal, live entertainment, professional portrait photographs by Studio 9, Elland, and a complimentary make-over for all the ladies who attend donated by Harvey’s, Halifax.
