FEARS that a decision by stone suppliers and landscaping company Marshalls to sell its Hipperholme depot would lead to increased traffic through the village of Southowram have been allayed – for the time being.
The company has confirmed that the sale of its Hipperholme site off Halifax Road is progressing and should be completed by the end of the month. As part of the sale, Marshalls has agreed to take a lease on part of the site so that its Halifax Logistics Fleet can continue to operate from the site and service its manufacturing bases at Brookfoot and West Lane.
Southowram residents expressed concerns that the sale of the Hipperholme site would lead to an increase in lorries through the village.
