MR Stanley Womersley, the last person to hold the post of Mayor of Brighouse and a man who devoted his life to serving his home town, has died at the age of 82.

He was diagnosed with cancer in January at the same time time that his wife, Mrs Audrey Womersley, died.
Mr Womersley served as a Labour councillor for 20 years and became the last Mayor of the former Brighouse borough in 1973. He played a pivotal role in the creation of the new Calderdale Council following local government reorganisation in 1974.
His daughter Mrs Karen Maude said: "He was a member of Calderdale Council from its formation because he wanted to ensure that Brighouse had a voice. He always kept abreast of what was happening in Brighouse and was vocal in his opinions when he believed things were not in the best interest of the town. He was always thoughtful in his responses, weighing up what was in the best interests of the many rather than the few.
"He was a strong influence on the family with his work ethic and clear values of respect for others. He gave us all a determination to succeed in whatever we set our minds to."
Born in Rastrick, Mr Womersley went to Victoria Secondary School and served in the East Yorkshire Regiment after volunteering for Army service in 1944. Following his time in the Forces, he worked at Blakeboroughs until he retired, first as a welder then as a shipping clerk. His brother Harold worked in Brighouse post office. He married Audrey in 1951 - and the couple had two daughters, Karen Maude and Julie Hawtin.
He was very proud of his four grand-children - James, aged 31, now a detective sergeant in the West Midlands, Ben, 30, a nurse who is about to emigrate to Australia, Gemma, 25, who has been working abroad, and 23-year-old Nikki, a teacher of sociology.
After his retirement, Mr Womersley and his wife enjoyed regular holidays in Europe and had visited Canada and the US. He was a keen gardener and kept his family supplied with home-grown vegetables. Mrs Maude said: "Recently dad had been in contact with a relative in the US who had traced the family tree back to the early 1700s to Birds Royd Lane. Over the last few weeks he had been fascinated by this."
Mr Womersley's funeral will be held on Monday at Park Wood Crematorium at 3pm.
