BRIGHOUSE company Artisan has stepped in to stage an art exhibition at its town centre showroom.
Brighouse Art Circle usually holds its annual exhibition at the Smith Art Gallery attached to the library in Halifax Road but because of refurbishment work members were forced to find an alternative.

Chairman Les Boothroyd said an alternative would have been Brighouse Civic Hall but that, too, is closed for renovation.

"The council offered us the temporary library in Lawson Road but we didn't think it was suitable for us. You can't just stick paintings in the corners of rooms. They are display items and you have to present them well."

He said one of the art circle's members had visited fireplace retailer Artisan and felt it would be a good place to host the exhibition. "Owners Gary and Sue Heginbottom agreed that it was a good idea and have allowed us to host the exhibition. They are both very keen to help."

The exhibition will open on September 20 and will run until the end of October.
