A 40-YEAR-OLD man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs and money laundering during a day of action by police in Wyke.
A drugs warrant was executed by officers from Tong and Wyke Neighbourhood Policing Team at a flat on Wedgemoor Close and a substantial amount of suspected cannabis bush was seized during a search of the premises.
Officers patrolled the area on foot,
in cars, vans, motorbikes and on horses throughout the day of action. The day was a chance for officers to target specific crimes in the Wyke area.
They were joined by representatives from Bradford Council, West Yorkshire Fire Service and the Hackney and Private Carriage Licensing Department who were all working together to help improve the quality of life for people living and working in the area.
Local residents also had the chance to take part in a police briefing, during which officers are assigned their duties for the day. The briefing was held in the car park at the Co-op in Wyke.
Police concentrated on key concerns raised by residents, which included drugs, road safety and burglaries. Crime prevention leaflets were handed out to ensure people knew how to contact the Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Police and school liaison officers also visited two schools, High Fearnley Primary in Wyke and Shirley Manor Primary in Wyke. They talked to the children about bullying and what can be done to combat it, and taught them about road safety.
Insp Osman Khan said residents were welcoming the chance to hear about crime in their areas and what was being done about it.
Bradford Council's executive member for safer communities, Coun Martin Smith, said: "Brad-ford Council and our partners are committed to tackling crime, grime and anti-social behaviour.
"By working with residents and our partners we can make our communities cleaner, safer and greener. Everyone has a part to play and we encourage residents to come forward and help us make Wyke the best it can possibly be."
