Crisis talks over club's future

ONE of Brighouse's best-known sports and social clubs is in serious financial difficulties and is fighting for its existence.
Officials at Blakeborough's Sports and Social Club are now considering a number of emergency options in a bid to safeguard the club's headquarters at Bradford Road. Two of the options could have serious implications for other sporting organisations in the town.
The club's 1,300 members are now considering the options and will have their chance to vote on March 30.
Secretary Ms Sheridan McGhee confirmed the extent of the club's problems and said that for the time being the club was continuing to trade with beer and lager supplies being paid for cash-on-delivery.
About 100 members were at a specially-convened meeting on Sunday to hear the committee spell out the financial difficulties currently hitting the club.
