RASTRICK residents campaigning for an improved bus service are hoping for improvements following a meeting with Metro.
Many people living in the Rastrick area have struggled since the 380 and 381 services were withdrawn and the 570 service was re-routed leaving Thornhill Road and Thornes Park residents without a service.
Community action groups in Rastrick including those covering Carr Green and Crowtrees, Field Lane and Bridge End took up the fight. Members of the groups met with representatives from Metro and Calderdale's representatives on the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority, Coun Geoff Wainwright and Coun Tim Swift.
Mrs Christine Beal, chairman of the Carr Green and Crowtrees Community Action group, said she was encouraged by the meeting.
"These people came along and listened to us," she said. "We had the chance to discuss solutions and they heard about the problems people were experiencing since the services were changed."
She was hopeful as a result of the meeting there would be at least a compromise if it was not possible to fully restore the services.
