THE bright lights of the stage are beckoning to enthusiastic singers who are keen to join up for roles in All Souls' Amateur Operatic Society's next production.
The society was founded in Halifax in 1962 when a group of talented singers got together to perform everything from West End musical numbers to Mozart.

Publicity manager Jean Murphy said: "We are a friendly, fun-loving society and, although we pride ourselves on putting on a very professional performance, we do not take ourselves too seriously off stage and rehearsal nights, although hard work, are a tremendous amount of fun."

All Souls' AOS is now looking for new members – women and men, young and old. There are no auditions and experience is not necessary, though enthusiasm and a love for the arts are.

The society rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm at the Stage Door Studio, James Street, Halifax. Members are currently working towards a 'stand and sing' concert which will be presented on October 2, 3 and 4 in Halifax. This annual event features a wide range of music from opera to musicals, traditional to classical and will include items from the society's forthcoming show 'Fiddler On The Roof' which is being staged at Halifax Playhouse next spring.

Anyone interested in joining or in finding out more about the society is asked to contact secretary Elizabeth Wood on 01422 205101 or Jean Murphy, publicity manager, on 01484 717934.
