TWO choirs were in fine voice at the weekend for a charity concert at Wyke Christian Fellowship Church Hall.
The Third Age Singers, who meet every Friday at Waring Green Community Centre, Brighouse, joined the Westfield Male Voice Choir, of Wyke, to present the concert.
Mrs Freda Hiley, who leads the Third Age Singers, is also the accompanist for the male voice choir. "It was a brilliant evening," she said. "Everybody enjoyed it."
Through donations the event raised £600 to help Mr Stephen Gledhill's appeal in aid of the Marie Curie Centre at Leeds Road, Bradford,
Mr Gledhill, of Lower Wyke, aims to raise £7,000 in a year which represents a day's running costs of a cancer ward.
He decided to support the centre in memory of his parents Jack and Amy Gledhill, who both died of cancer. His father spent some time at the centre and both he and his wife Wendy were delighted by the care provided.
Mr and Mrs Gledhill are directors of Mandate Systems Ltd at Wyke. Mr Gledhill is the nephew of one of the Third Age Singers Mr Dennis Thorpe.
