'CALENDAR Girls' has been a triumph in the West End and now the ladies of Rylstone WI are heading back home to Yorkshire to take to the stage of the Grand Theatre, Leeds.
Having starred in the show in London, actress Lynda Bellingham, who recently strutted her stuff on TV's 'Strictly Come Dancing', will return to the production for the Leeds run from March 8 to 12, 2010.

Tickets are now on sale for the popular show which is certain to be a sell-out. Also taking part are Letitia Dean, best known as Sharon Watts in 'EastEnders', Jan Harvey who played Jan Howard in the long-running BBC series 'Howard's End', 'Hollyoaks' actress Gemma Atkinson and Judith Barker, best known as the upwardly-mobile homewrecker Janet Reid in 'Coronation Street'.

Tim Firth has adapted the screenplay of his smash hit film for the stage.

The film of 'Calendar Girls' came out in 2003 and starred Helen Mirren, Julie Walters and Annette Crosbie. It was an instant hit, becoming the number one grossing film in the UK on its release.

Ironically the upbeat story of 'Calendar Girls' grew out of the decision by the ladies of Rylstone WI in North Yorkshire to release a charity calendar – with a difference – to raise money for leukaemia research following the death of the husband of one of the members in 1998. Twelve WI members were persuaded to bare all for a good cause and the resulting calendar was a sell-out and went on to become a worldwide sensation.

The director of the stage show is Hamish McColl with design by Rob Jones.

Box office information is available at www.leedsgrandtheatre.com or 0844 8482703.
