How many of us look back at our school days and just wish we had done that bit better? Some students do say their school life as not a happy time and found it difficult.

As they have got older and in their 20s, 30s or even 40s many decide now is the time to catch up on that lost school time and take exams again.

Maths was never a favourite subject of mine and not something I ever did well at.

The very thoughts of entering a school maths contest would never be something that came my way. Unlike these four students from Hipperholme Grammar School in February 1994.

Holding and proudly showing off their bronze and silver certificates are (left to right) : Martin Sykes, Vicky Doherty, Philippa Laycock and Jennie Rigg. Well done.
