In last week’s Good Times it was confirmed that long serving Neil and Sandra Catlow had left the Grove at Rastrick and regulars have welcomed new landlord and landlady Ann and George Wilson.
Ann is originally from Dewsbury and George from Bradford and they have had pubs in York, Barnsley, Birstall, Manchester and Hull.
For the last two and a half years they had The Primrose at Meanwood, Leeds.
The private company which owns the Grove that Ann and George already worked for asked the couple if they would like to take on the Grove and without even viewing the pub, they agreed.
“The pub itself is tired and needs some TLC but the regulars have made us very welcome and we like Rastrick and the area. There are plans in place to have the pub decorated throughout and work has already begun on the beer garden for next summer,” said Ann.
The pub is open seven days a week noon until midnight and they have Carling at £2.50 a pint and John Smiths at £2.15 a pint.
They also have two pool teams and there is a charity event planned for November 1.
It will be to raise money for The Yorkshire Air Ambulance with a karaoke disco, raffle prizes, fancy dress is optional and if anyone would like to make any donations or prize to the cause please call in at the pub.
