Popular Brighouse landlord Mark Feasey is leaving the Old Ship Inn in Bethel Street after six years.

He said he had enjoyed his time at the pub and would take many happy memories with him.

“It is with deep regret I will be calling last orders for the last time this Saturday, as we have mutally decided that my time has come to an end at the Old Ship Inn.

“It has been an amazing six years at the pub, from moving up here in 2008, I have had a roller coaster of a ride, and enjoyed every minute of it. When I arrived, I didn’t know anybody, in fact I had never heard of Brighouse before,” he said.

“I have gained so many great friends in the town and I would like to thank everyone who has supported the pub and for making my time here so enjoyable. I will take with me many fantastic memories, including the amazing festivALES and brewing my own ales for it, the gigs, the laughs, the fun, the Christmas celebrations and the awards we have won.

“A special thanks also goes to all of the members of staff who have worked for me, they have all been amazing, and made my time at the ‘Ship’ a pleasure. A special thanks to Rob and Jayson who have been with me for four and five years respectively and have stayed with me through the good and bad times. We have become almost family, and its going to be strange not seeing them everyday.”

For Mark’s farewell there will be live music on Saturday from The Explosions along with other local singers. Mark was keen to have Roger Davies perform, but he won’t be able to attend due to a prior engagement.

“It should be a really good night, and give me chance to see a lot of the regulars and to say good bye in person!”

The new landlady is Marsha Jones and the Good Times column will bring you more on her next week.

Mark said: “ I would like to wish Marsha all the best with the Old Ship Inn, a fantastic real ale pub.”
