l The Holiday Inn is to play host to Liverpool v Everton as it holds an Evening with Merseyside Derby Legends.

Liverpool and Everton play the high profile Merseyside Derby this weekend (Saturday) – a fierce sporting rivalry that will be matched by two local companies that share the same premises in Brighouse and have gone red v blue by sponsoring a charitable dinner event in November.

In the red corner is Tracy Harris, of Switch Energy, who is supporting Liverpool, and in the blue corner is Richard Comboy, of Carpet and Flooring Megastore, who is supporting Everton.

Former Liverpool and Everton legends Ronnie Whelan and Kevin Ratcliffe will be highly entertaining guests of honour at the 1980s themed event at the Holiday Inn, Brighouse.

Ronnie Whelan played 493 times in the red of Liverpool including 31 derbies, scored 73 goals and won a staggering six league titles, three FA Cups and a European Cup.

Kevin Ratcliffe also had 493 appearances for Everton with 32 of those in derbies, winning two League titles, one FA Cup and a European Cup Winners’ Cup.

Both played over 50 international games, Ronnie for the Republic of Ireland and Kevin for Wales.

The evening will be held on Friday, November 21, and will raise money for Clifton Rangers Junior Football Club and Sportz Power. The event will also feature top scouse comedian Bill Woolland, and includes a three course meal, Merseyside Derby quiz and charity silent auction and raffle.

Standard tables of ten cost £299 or single tickets are £32.95.
