Good Times: Bowled over by club’s kindness

A massive fund-raising effort at Rastrick Bowling and Social Club has netted the grand sum of £975 for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice near Brighouse.

Sam Wood, from the hospice, was presented with a cheque by Judith Jessett,Barbara Lockwood,stewardess Kate Smith,Jean Baikie and Janet Holroyd. The money was raised through a charity fashion show, organised by the ladies’ group, and an anonymous donation from one of the members on the occasion of a milestone birthday. In addition club stewardess Kate asked for donations instead of gifts on the occasion of her marriage to Bob Smith earlier this year. The club is pleased and proud to have raised such a fantastic amount.

The Towngate Brasserie in Hipperholme is gearing up for the Christmas season. The popular venue recently launched its Christmas and New Year menus and bookings are already coming in thick and fast. In addition the restaurant’s recent gourmet evening was such a success that they will now become a quarterly fixture.

Tonight’s jam session at the Barge, Brighouse, will be provided by Mick Brown. On Friday evening the popular Sully’s Heroes will return and on Saturday Jagged Edge take to the floor.

The Old Pond at Hove Edge is hosting live music on Saturdays until the end of the month. This Saturday from 9pm male vocalist John Morgan will provide the songs from 9pm. On Fridays there is a disco and karaoke from 9pm and on Wednesdays there is a fun quiz.
