ROTARIANS are organising a big sponsored walk along the Calder and Hebbel Navigation - and they need you to join them.

The ‘Rotary Navigation Walk’ will be along the Calder and Hebble Navigation from Sowerby Bridge to Horbury, a total of 19 miles.

But you don’t have to walk it all if you don’t want to. There will be start and finish points along the way at Dewsbury, Mirfield, Brighouse, Elland and Sowerby Bridge - each leg about four miles long.

The walk, the second annual event, is being held on April 1.

It will benefit four lcoal hospices - Overgate Hospice in Elland, West Yorkshire Forget-Me-Not Children’s Hospice, at Brackenhall, Kirkwood Hospice in Huddersfield and Wakefield Hospice. Walkers will be asked to nominate their start and finish places will be manned from 8.30am until 4.30pm and free transport will be arranged to get them to their start points providing they register before March 23.

The walk is a fund-raising joint venture organised by Rotary Clubs across Calderdale including Brighouse, Elland and Sowerby Bridge. Free transport for pre-registered walkers will be provided to their chosen start point from any of the start and finish point, providing you are there before 10am and pre-registered before March 23.
