Young voices hit the right notes at national concert
St Andrew's Junior School choir practicing ahead of Young Voices Concert in Sheffield.
Young singers from St Andrew’s Junior School took to the stage in Sheffield to perform as part of the national Young Voices concert.
The school choir was due to sing last month at the Motor Point Arena but the event was postponed due to the adverse weather conditions.
However the rescheduled concert saw the pupils perform alongside the internationally acclaimed African Children’s Choir and Britain’s Got Talent runner up Connie Talbot.
Teacher Rebecca Walmsley said: “We have been learning lots of new songs including current hits by Bruno Mars, Olly Murs and Lady Gaga.
“Parents came to watch us and we have been learning our dance moves for a while. Young Voices informed us that Connie Talbot who performed on Britain’s Got Talent would be performing with us. The children were really excited about the event and so were the staff.”
Young Voices has a long standing history spanning 15 years and the tours have featured an impressive array of talent including Dionne Bromfield, The High Kings, Joss Stone, Des’ree, VV Brown and many other established acts.
Ben Lewis, managing director of Young Voices said: “Every pupil should be exposed to music at an early age, whether the joy is singing, playing an instrument or loving the sound of music, the potential benefits are huge.”
