CHRISTMAS may be well and truly over but the pantomime season is set to continue when Brighouse Theatre Productions presents ‘Mother Goose’ this month.

The show is being presented at Brighouse Civic Hall from Thursday, January 17 to Sunday, January 20.

The production team includes musical director Jill Lambert and producer Pete Forsyth. The dancers are from the P M Gibson School of Theatre Dance, choreographed by Philippa Gibson.

The familiar faces on stage include Andrew Mann as the Dame - Mother Goose - while her son Billy is played by John Murphy, known to many Brighouse people from his job as manager of Czerwik’s cheese shop.

The role of Colin, the principal boy, is taken by Holly Robson with Emma Newsome as Jill, the principal girl. Robert Davison does not disappoint is the role of the baddie.

‘Mother Goose’ was first presented as a pantomime at Drury Lane in 1902 and tells the rags to riches story of Mother Goose who is about to be turned off her land for not paying her rent. But help is at hand when the Good Fairy sends Priscilla, the goose that can lay golden eggs, to assist with payments. Soon Mother Goose is very rich and the scene is set for a clash with Demon Discontent.

Publicity officer Margaret Hallatt said: “We are sure that ‘Mother Goose’ will be another crowd-please.

“With plenty of laughs, colourful costumes, lively dancing and well-known songs, it promises to delight audiences.”

Evening performances on January 17, 18, and 19 are at 7.15pm. There are matinees on January 19 at 2.15pm and January 20 at 1.15pm. To book contact 01484 402435 or visit the Civic Hall on weekdays from 10am to 4pm.
