l Congratulations to Marsha Jones at The Old Ship Inn, who is celebrating 12 months at the pub.

“I have been in the pub for a year and would like to thank everyone for their support. The pub has some great characters and Nelson the pub cat is more popular than me,” laughed Marsha.

There is plenty going off at the pub. On Tuesday nights they have Tasting Tuesdays, with three thirds of ale for the same price as a pint.

Tonight (Thursday) they have a card school evening from 6pm.

To mark the one year milestone on Saturday night there is a karaoke and disco planned with a free shot for everyone who gets up to sing, and a free buffet.

There is a drink offer all week on Radka, which is made by Copper Dragon. Plus real ale is only £2.50 a pint all day on Saturday.

“We have a busy birthday month that includes live music throughout the month, featuring Blackpool Bridge and Shabbycats Moorhouse, meet the brewer night, Julie Stephenson - spiritualist delivering messages from the spirit world, plus a fancy dress Halloween party,” Marsha said.

“The pub has a 12 month redecoration plan and is getting all geared up for winter. I am hoping to install a log burner shortly and offer home-made stew and soup on a regular basis.”
