THERE was a fair bit of banter in the households of Brighouse Town Foot-ball Club's committee last Thursday after they had seen the picture from their annual dinner which, it was alleged, made it look like it was just one for the boys.
Editor Stephen Firth had opted for the picture of the men on the staircase at Berties Banqueting Suite ahead of another featuring the ladies who were an integral part of the event.
We are happy to publish the mixed picture (see P.19 Brighouse Ec
ho), ladies, safe in the knowledge that you will grant your husbands and partners a pass out on Saturday evening after the last Saturday away game of the season at Bottesford near Scunthorpe.
Mind you, ladies, it isn't a town that has readily screamed back at me: "Come and look around some more, you will be pleasantly surprised."
The club still has the re-arranged Yorkshire Amateur away fixture in Leeds next Tuesday (7.45) and then it is all home matches after that and a swift half in the Old Pond!
Each time you visit the club's St Giles Road ground you can see what work has been carried out by the club's committee who are very shortly set to announce a major sponsorship for the naming rights to the ground.
I also understand that they have had some very satisfactory talks with their ground owners Blakeborough Sports and Social Club and the paperwork is all going through.
On a lovely spring evening on Tuesday and with a crowd approaching the 100 mark you really felt as though you were in a professional sporting stadium, which it really is growing into.
It was also a pleasure going to the match after being trapped indoors these dark, cold evenings. The amount of people out taking a walk and those in their gardens just added to the feelgood factor.
It was not the result the supporters wanted, a 4-1 reverse, but manager Mark Brier knows what is required now after a season in their new semi-professional surroundings and I am sure the squad will be strengthened in the off season.
They are also buzzing with the news that they will definitely be in the FA Vase next season, which will involve them being drawn against a non-league club from anywhere across England which will add variety and excitement to next term.

* THIS Sunday rugby league followers who do not possess a satellite or cable link for their sport will be able to watch live on BBC 2 two matches from the fourth round of the Carnegie Rugby League Challenge Cup.
The first game up at 2.30 is coming from Perpignan and features Catalans Dragons and Bradford Bulls who have only won once this season and that was two weeks ago in a Super League game in Perpignan. The second match two hours later is a real big one and one that the game's top brass would have loved to have saved for Wembley – Leeds Rhinos v St Helens.
It is also coming out in the wash that in the autumn when England stages a Four Nations event between Australia, New Zealand, France and the host country, two of the matches will come live on the BBC, the rest being highlights, and the remaining matches and final live on SKY Sports.
