Brighouse in winter

Doesn’t sound the most appealing prospect, bringing to mind images of dark mornings, row after row of paved streets still soaking from incessant rain and factories belching out smoke and disheartened workers.

The reality is different as these pictures clearly illustrate. Within a couple of miles of the town centre – itself transformed from its heavy industrial past – there is so much to savour.

All these pictures, taken by Brighouse Echo photographer Adrian Bampton during recent frosty weather, show a different side to the one imagined by people who have only an image to go on.

The pictures were taken at Coley, Norwood Green, Clifton and in Wellholme Park.
